Since publishing my original post on pig‑butchering scams, something both predictable and disturbing has happened: a second fake LinkedIn profile has now appeared in the comments, attempting to hijack the conversation and redirect readers to a fraudulent “crypto recovery” website.
This is not a coincidence. It’s a tactic.
Scammers monitor posts that mention crypto losses, pig‑butchering, or online fraud. The moment someone speaks publicly about being scammed, these groups deploy fabricated testimonials from throwaway accounts designed to look like ordinary victims who “found a real recovery service.”
The latest comment on my LinkedIn post followed the exact script:
Claims of losing USDT
A warning about “fake recovery agents”
A sudden pivot to praising ciphertraces.com
A promise that this one “helped recover stolen crypto”
This is the same fraudulent domain I have already reported — and now, a second fake profile is promoting it.
These comments are not genuine. They are not from victims. They are not from helpful strangers.
They are part of the scam itself.
Recovery scams are often more predatory than the original fraud because they target people who are already vulnerable and desperate for help. The criminals know this, and they weaponize it by planting fake success stories wherever victims might be reading.
For anyone following my work: No legitimate company recovers stolen crypto through unsolicited messages, comments, or DMs.
